First, let me say, it was fabulous working with Nick Detert. He carefully listened to my ideas and created a final design for my home addition that truly reflected my personality. He expertly captured my style, took my vision and made it real. I am actively looking for another project in my home, so I can continue business with him. I can’t rate his work and professionalism highly enough. My experience with Nick, and Studio 1012, was first rate. I could not have accomplished such a huge project alone.

Vicki and I have enjoyed working with Nick on projects for over twenty years. Nick has helped us, not only with our home, but also with the many commercial projects that we have completed over the years. From selecting the perfect shades of colors or combination of colors to getting the most enjoyment or benefit from given spatial conditions, Nick offers ideas and design options that can make a significant difference in the outcome of a project. Nick has a range of experience that has helped us earn awards in Historic Preservation Projects as well as non-historic adaptive reuse projects that have benefited by his eye for contemporary design. Nick’s work has been key in many Downtown Columbia and North Village redevelopment projects and his skill and talent is very apparent in the aesthetic and commercial success of these building projects.

When we enlisted Nick’s help, during the remodel, of our mid-century modern home, a strong connection was quickly established. With much enthusiasm, Nick, identified our design taste and goals. Through several meetings—some including our architect and general contractor—our initial plan was sharpened and revised. Nick was a true pleasure to work with and was instrumental in many decision that would ultimately impact our day-to-day living and overall enjoyment of our home. Throughout the design process, he listened to our concerns and came up with tasteful, practical solutions that suited our taste and lifestyle—while keeping within the era of the home. Nick was involved at almost every junction of our remodel, including the: floorplan, lighting, furniture considerations and the selection of materials—including paint, wallpaper, tile and flooring.
In a nutshell, Nick is a unique, compassionate, dedicated and effective designer. He provided needed structure to, an otherwise, daunting task. Our family continues to appreciate Nick’s valuable contributions and will look to him, and his top-notch team at Putnam’s Studio 1012, for all our future design needs.

My husband and I have worked with Putnam’s on several projects over the years—some large, some small. Our most recent project involved an addition to our vacation home in Colorado to accommodate an expanding family. Nick worked with us on ways to meld the new addition with our existing home seamlessly. Included in the scope of his work, was the selection of furniture, paint color, lighting and architectural detailing. The finished project exceeded our expectations in making the entire house workable, comfortable and very attractive.
Nick possesses a keen sense of color and is a good listener. He had a very good grasp of our design taste and our budgetary concerns. The very fact that we have asked Nick to help us with multiple projects says a lot.

The mix of styles, and/or furniture periods into a harmonious design scheme. This requires the melding of colors, shapes, textures and forms to create an open-ended design which allows loved heirlooms and antiques to live in harmony.
